Beedi Baba
November 10, 2010 - August 11, 2025
I had truly hoped for more time with her…but true to this magical little being’s way, she continued to teach me through her recent passing. We all know this day will come. For animals, the hardest thing is that we know we will most likely outlive them. Just shy of her 15th birthday, Beedi made her journey over the rainbow bridge. As many of you said, she was a natural therapy dog. No training was needed (for her — I required some). During the last year of her life, I was presented with the opportunity to attune to her as she began declining last April. I learned even deeper levels of listening, that felt initiatory in nature. It was my prayer to know the moment and it took everything I had to show up and recognize it. During the end of her life, Beedi received weekly chiropractic and then acupuncture from two phenomenal providers in Southern Oregon. Up until her last few days, she still was bringing her healing nature with her, impressing upon all those around her.
Beedi had an innate sensitivity, ability to attune to people, and had a presence that was un-rivaled by many humans. I’m so grateful that I was graced by her presence in my life both personally and professionally. She is already so missed, and yet… the imprints on my heart from her presence are palpable. I know I am a better human for having been given the opportunity to care for her in this life. It’s a dedication to Beedi and our journey together.
"There is a cycle of love and death that shapes the lives of those who choose to travel in the company of animals. It is a cycle unlike any other. To those who have never lived through its turnings or walked its rocky path, our willingness to give our hearts with full knowledge that they will be broken seems incomprehensible. Only we know how small a price we pay for what we receive; our grief, no matter how powerful it may be, is an insufficient measure of the joy we have been given.”
